APF defeats Region no. 6
Kathmandu, Jan 8: Armed Police Force (APF) registered a comfortable 98-run victory over Region No. 6 (Baitadi) to book its place at the semifinal as the group winner while Region No. 7 (Janakpur) defeated Region No. 1 (Biratnagar) by 32-run for its second win in the Lumbini Women’s National Cricket Tournament on Wednesday at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Opting to bat first, APF hammered 194 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allocated 40 overs. In reply, Baitadi were bundled out for paltry 96 runs in 37 overs.
Rubina Chhetri and Binu Budhamagar each had two wickets while Sonu Khadka, Sita Rana Magar, Karuna Bhandari and Ritu Kanojiya dismissed one batswomen apiece in the dismantle of Baitadi.
Tail-ender Sunita Lohar top scored with 16 runs while Janaki Bhatta (14), Kabita Kunwar (12) and Anjali Chand (12) were the double digit contributor for the Baitadi.
Earlier, Sarita Magar collected highest 38 runs off 51 balls whereas Jyoti Pandey (36), Rubina Chhetri (30) and Binu Budhamagar (25) chipped in for the APF.
Aasha Saki had four wicket haul conceding 41 runs in her seven over spell and Rekha Rawal, Janaki Bhatta and Anjali Chand each had one wicket for Baitadi.
At IOE Ground, Janakpur posted 169/5 in the allotted 40 overs with five wickets down. Biratnagar, in run chase, were dismantled in 37.2 overs after they collected 137 runs.
Anuradha Chaudhary took four wickets while Kabita Gautam picked two wickets in an annihilation of Biratnagar.
Opener Kajol Shrestha scored 39 off 70 balls while Roshan Rai scored not out 24 runs off 36 balls for the Biratnagar. Roma Thapa (15), Prema Gurung (11) and Sanjana Budhathoki (11) were other major contributor for the Biratnagar.
